Cerner EHR Integration Solutions

Fortunesoft provides Cerner EHR integration services: the engineering that securely connects third-party applications, medical devices, and health system platforms to Cerner Millennium, now part of Oracle Health, so clinical data flows where care teams need it. Without that connection, results sit in separate systems, interface requests back up, and clinicians re-key data or switch screens to find it.

The work spans FHIR R4 and HL7 v2 interfaces, CareAware device connectivity, custom workflows in PowerChart, and modernization of interfaces already in production. The goal is reliable data in the chart and in the screens clinicians already use.

Connected Clinical Data Across Systems

Labs, medications, device readings, and documents move between Cerner Millennium and connected systems automatically, so care teams stop reconciling data by hand.

Intro icon

Workflow-Embedded Clinician Experience

Apps and views open inside PowerChart with the patient already in context, so clinicians use them during care instead of switching screens or logging in again.

Faster, Lower-Risk Go-Live

Sandbox testing, clinical validation, and parallel runs catch interface problems before patients are affected, shortening the path to production.

Cerner Millennium Integration Services

Oracle Health Millennium Platform (formerly Cerner Millennium) supports several integration methods, and each use case calls for a different one. FHIR R4 suits application access, HL7 v2 suits event-driven interfaces, and document-based and bulk exchange cover the remaining clinical data exchange needs.

Cerner FHIR R4 API Integration

Applications built on Oracle Health's Ignite FHIR R4 APIs can read patients, encounters, and observations, and write data back where the API allows, with scopes limited to what each app needs.

Cerner HL7 v2 Interface Development

HL7 v2 remains the usual choice for event-driven exchange with Millennium. ADT, order, result, and scheduling interfaces are developed and tested through an interface engine and mapped to the Millennium build.

SMART on FHIR App Integration

A SMART on FHIR app launches from inside Cerner with clinician or patient context passed in. The build covers the launch flow, the app's use of that context, and testing in clinician and patient scenarios.

Oracle Health Developer Program Onboarding

Vendors move from developer registration and sandbox testing to production credentialing at each health system. Each step, from app registration to customer activation, is planned and tracked.

CCDA & Clinical Document Exchange

Some exchanges need documents rather than discrete data. CCDA creation and consumption cover referrals, care transitions, and records requests, so summaries reach outside providers complete.

Population Health Data Integration

Bulk FHIR exports data for groups of patients asynchronously, which suits analytics, quality reporting, and payer-provider exchange. Export workflows are scoped to the data each use case needs.

Cerner Integration Security & Compliance

compliance icon

HIPAA-Compliant PHI Handling

Each integration uses the minimum necessary PHI and follows HIPAA Security Rule safeguards.

compliance icon

Cures Act & Information Blocking Alignment

Designs follow ONC Cures Act rules and USCDI data classes, so authorized access is not obstructed.

compliance icon

OAuth 2.0 & SMART Authorization

OAuth 2.0 and SMART scopes limit each app to the data its users and organization have approved.

compliance icon

PHI Encryption in Transit & at Rest

TLS protects data moving between systems, and encryption protects data at rest in interface queues and storage.

compliance icon

Role-Based Access & Audit Logging

Access follows least privilege by role, and audit logs record who viewed or changed integration data, and when.

Why Fortunesoft for Cerner EHR Integration Services?

Cerner projects go well when the team understands Millennium, the clinical work around it, and how Oracle Health changes over time. Fortunesoft brings all three to each integration.

Why fortunesoft

Oracle Health Platform Expertise

Fortunesoft works across the integration surfaces of Cerner Millennium: Ignite FHIR APIs, HL7 v2 interfaces, CareAware, MPages, and CCL. One team can scope a project without handoffs between vendors.

Why fortunesoft

Proven Health System Deployments

Integrations are built for production use at health systems, with sandbox testing, clinical validation, and monitoring planned before go-live rather than added afterward.

Why fortunesoft

Clinical Workflow Understanding

Clinicians judge an integration by what it does to their day. Designs start from charting, ordering, and handoff workflows and are validated with clinical users before production.

Cerner CareAware Device Integration

Bedside Device Data Capture

CareAware connectivity for bedside monitors, infusion pumps, and ventilators sends readings to the chart with correct patient association and no manual entry.

Device Data Quality & Alerting

Bad device data is a charting risk. Checks for missing, duplicate, and mismatched readings, plus connectivity alerts, let interface staff learn of a failed feed before clinicians do.

Remote Patient Monitoring Integration

Home and ambulatory devices such as blood pressure cuffs, glucose meters, and scales connect to Millennium, so remote readings sit beside in-clinic results in the chart.

Medical Device Manufacturer Integration

Device makers need a validated connectivity path before Cerner sites can use their products. Interfaces are built and tested against Oracle Health's validation requirements.

Cerner Custom Workflow Development

Integration

Custom MPages Development

MPages are web-based views embedded in PowerChart. Custom MPages gather labs, orders, and notes for a specialty or role, so clinicians see what they need in one place.

Integration

CCL Reporting & Data Extraction

CCL, Cerner Command Language, queries the Millennium database through Discern Explorer. Efficient CCL supports operational reports, data extracts, and the back end of custom MPages.

Integration

Clinical Decision Support Integration

Decision support should reach clinicians while they order or chart. External logic can be integrated with Millennium alerting, and with CDS Hooks where the Oracle Health environment supports it.

Integration

PowerForm & Documentation Integration

PowerForms capture documentation as discrete data. Integrating form content with outside systems and reports keeps structured entries useful beyond the note itself.

Implementation Process

development process

Discovery & Interface Scoping

Systems, data flows, message types, and Oracle Health access requirements are documented first. Scope, owners, and success criteria are agreed before design begins.

development process

Integration Architecture Design

The design fixes the integration method (FHIR, HL7 v2, or both), data mappings, security controls, and error handling, and Millennium and security teams review it before build.

development process

Build & Sandbox Testing

Engineers build against Oracle Health sandbox environments and test message handling, authorization, and edge cases before any connection to a live domain.

development process

Clinical Validation & UAT

Clinicians and Millennium analysts run real scenarios in a test domain, confirming that data lands in the right place and that workflows hold up under actual use.

development process

Production Deployment & Go-Live

Production credentials, connections, and cutover steps follow a runbook, with engineers on hand through go-live and the first days of live traffic.

development process

Monitoring & Ongoing Support

After launch, monitoring, alerting, and issue response keep data flowing, and integrations are updated as Oracle Health releases change its APIs.
